Presentation: Emerging trends of the circular economy enabled by resource recovery from wastewater

Description:
The sustainability of wastewater centers around the beneficial use via fit-for-purpose reuse and recovery of carbon and nutrients. The aptly named water resource recovery facilities are gearing to fuel the circular economy sustained by the recovery of valuable resources, playing a more prominent role in the inclusive City of the future. Besides more traditional carbon recovery through biosolids and bioenergy, recovery of new valuable products such as biopolymers will be targeted based on emerging market drivers. Furthermore, the new and effective ways of recovering nutrients are ensuring economic feasibility. In this presentation, the speaker will share his experiences on the emerging trends and case examples of the circular economy within the wastewater sector worldwide.
Speaker: Dr. Pusker Regmi
Dr. Pusker Regmi is a process engineer/wastewater innovation leader with Brown and Caldwell. A licensed professional engineer in Virginia, Pusker leads applied research and implementation of emerging biological nutrient removal technologies.
