Recipient of the 2026 ASCE Columbia Medal
Dr. Ramesh B. Malla, Founder President of ASNEngr and Professor at the University of Connecticut (UConn), has been awarded the 2026 ASCE Columbia Medal. Presented at the Earth & Space 2026 Conference, this prestigious lifetime honor recognizes his pioneering work in structural mechanics for future lunar and space infrastructures. His research focuses on designing extraterrestrial habitats capable of withstanding extreme temperature swings and hypervelocity meteoroid impacts.
An esteemed educator, Dr. Malla has authored over 160 technical publications, mentored decades of future engineers, and held leadership roles across 25+ technical committees for major organizations like the ASCE and AIAA.
Dr. Malla’s journey is a masterclass in perseverance. Raised in a village lacking basic roads, he grew to design habitats for interplanetary life while building a global professional community to support thousands of fellow engineers.
